So, if you’re here you probably want to know what you need to keep in mind when you are looking for an alfresco fridge. Let’s run through a few of the considerations you need to be aware of when looking to purchase your alfresco fridge.
Running Noise
Firstly, we all know that most bar fridges have glass doors. Glass actually permeates noise through them far more than your regular kitchen fridge. So, noise is the first thing you need to be aware of when shopping around for a new alfresco fridge.
In fact, where you put your alfresco fridge can have an impact on its running noise.
If you are placing your alfresco fridge indoors, naturally you are going to want it to be quiet. Most indoor fridges have smaller fans, not only because they make far less noise but also because the environment in your home is fairly stable with very few heat fluctuations. So, indoor bar fridges don’t need a large amount of airflow and can work just fine with a smaller fan.
For an outside fridge going into our harsh summer environment, we place a bigger fan in there. The bigger the fan the more air moves the louder the fridge. The other benefit of the larger fan it allows the fridge to work in a hotter environment.
Placement
If you are looking to keep your alfresco fridge outside, well, it is in the name, after all, you’ll want to keep in mind how hot it gets where your fridge will be. Will it be directly in sunlight? Or is it going to be built-in or freestanding?
Alfresco Fridge Size
The third thing you’ll want to keep in mind when shopping around for a new bar fridge is what size of fridge you really need.
It might be a one-door bar fridge, a two-door unit, or even a three-door alfresco fridge.
Most fridges run far more efficiently when they are around about 75% full. So, a two-third full fridge is not going to run as efficiently and could effectively cost you a lot more money when the electricity bill comes in.
So, we always say buy your alfresco fridge to suit your everyday requirements with the 75% rule in mind.
Our most popular bar fridge is the two-door alfresco fridge, which holds around about 180 to 200 cans, depending on the size of the can and how you store it.
Stainless Steel vs Black Finish
The fourth consideration when looking at a fridge is black or stainless steel.
Well, that’s down to you. You know what best suits your decor and the area that the fridge is going into. Cleaning wise there isn’t much of a difference between the two finishes, it is really just an aesthetic choice.
